Road Trip to ASHA!!!!

The journey has begun!   The ASHA convention starts Thursday in Atlanta, so to get there, David and I have set off, stopping in Brevard NC to spend time with David's parents for a few days.  David isn't actually interested in attending a large convention full of SLPs, so he'll be checking out the sights (while I'm busy) including the Jimmy Carter Library and Museum, The King Center, and the High Museum of Art.  Oh, he'll also be taking in a few geocaches, or maybe a lot of geocaches.

While in Brevard, I have a pre-ASHA to do list:
  • check out the online program planner and make some type of daily schedule.  Lots of things are interesting, but for my job, I need to find out more about cluttering, assistive technology, iPad apps, and TBI in children.  There's also the opening program which includes the keynote address by Maya Angelou, and the awards ceremony where Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, Captain Mark Kelly will be presented with the Annie Glenn award.  I also have a couple of tickets to the closing party at the Georgia Aquarium!  So much to do!
  • Download convention handouts!

  • check out the mass transit system---I'm staying at an AirBnB several stops away. You can't go wrong for a $55 dollar a night room, but I do need to know how to get to the convention.

  • Big on my weekend pre-ASHA list is to learn more about Twitter.  Why? --you may ask.  Because I'll be volunteering at the PediaStaff Social Media Booth!!!    If you would like to see me in person, I'll be there on Friday at 10:30.  My specialty is Blogs, but I need to be ready in case a 'customer' wants to know more about Twitter---you can look me up on Twitter now and I'll actually notice if you 'tweet me' @ruthmorgan55.        Thank you, Heidi Kay, for organizing this and for including me!

That's all for now!    More to come!
